Community Brew

Hello Again!
Writing my second blog post of the day soley because I forgot that it was the Community Brew link-up today! I never blog twice in one day. Its hard for me to even blog every day! So this just shows how much this group of ladies mean to me.
Speaking of a group of people and their meaning to me...this week's topic is "What does community mean to you?"

I am a "people-person". Always have been, always will be. I love spending time with people, hearing their story, sharing each others burdens. It may be weird, but I thrive on these relationships. Praying for each other and getting my hands dirty in messy situations because me and my sisters in Christ are here for each other. No matter what.

Of course we didn't make this community thing up on our own. God has designed us to be a people of community.
Starting in the Garden of Eden.

"Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him."
-Genesis 2:18

Now when I think of "community" I think of a large group of people. But I believe that God created the idea of community so that we could all gather together and call on His name. It could be two people, three people, thirty people. It could be one-on-one over dinner, or it could be a devotional with twenty people all sharing their own opinions over a passage or haring their own personal experinces.

"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”- Matthew 18:20

To me, community is all about accountability and encouragement.
First of all, accountability is not so fun. But it is needed. I need to share the things I struggle with to my sisters in Christ, and then I need them to ask me about it throughout the week and pray with me.
That's when encouragement comes along.
When you are being held accountable, you also need encouragement. Scripture verses, a text that says "I'm praying for you", anything. Something I have also found very encouraging is seeing my sisters in Christ posting pictures of their quiet time with the Lord that day, or verses they are memorizing, anything that keeps the focus on the Lord in this sinful world we live in.

"be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ."
-Ephesians 5:18-20

I want to be in a community that loves and encourages like that. I want to be filled with the Spirit and speaking to my sisters & brothers only words of encouragement.
I believe this community does that! And I'm so thankful for that.
Most of the blogs linking up today are the reason I made a blog to begin with. I read yall's posts every morning and saw how deeply you cared about each other when most of yall haven't even met! I wanted to be a part of this community. And I am so glad that I am now!

xoxo,
Lace

  1. Ahh...I love that you pointed out accountability. It's incredibly not fun sometimes, but so essential. And you know someone truly cares about you when they take the risk of calling you out on something!

  2. Blog community is THE BEST. I love my blog friends so much and I can't wait to one day meet them in real life. And I love your outlook on community. Having the people you can share just about anything with is so awesome. Hard to find, but when you do, it's wonderful!

  3. I'm so happy that you are a part of this blog community, too! You are so right, Lacey Beth! Community and accountability are so needed. I am like you, I'm so a people person and I have always loved having a community. Usually though it's hard for me to share about me, because I just want to know how YOU are and let's not worry about me. But my community doesn't usually let me do that and I'm so thankful for it. Thank you so much for linking up with us!!
