Lately I have been such a bookworm.
I have had my nose stuck in a book every time I have had a chance!
I love getting lost in what I'm reading, especially when it is an amazing author who writes fluently and effectively in a way that entices you into another world away from your own. For just a day, an hour, a few minutes, a moment...you are away from the to-do lists and schedules and in another world.
Today I have listed some of my recent reads. One classic, one newbie, one oldie-but-goodie, and one life changer.
1. Radical by David Platt: This book made me think long and hard about the life I am living for my Savior. It calls you to live a life radically devoted to making much of Christ. Giving literally everything to Him. This includes finances, personal goals, possibly even where you live or what you do. It is a high calling to be a disciple of the Lord! I will read this book over and over again. David Platt gives all the glory to God and doesn't water down the word of God. He puts it as it is. I don't think all Christians realize how big of a calling we actually have! He also writes a sequel "Radical Together" which is a must-read as well.
2. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks: I have seen The Notebook but have never read the book, and let me tell you, the book is SO much better! I fell in love with Sparks style of writing and the hopeless romantic feel in his novels. He knows how to make women all over America swoon! Safe to say I want to read anything he has ever written now.
3.My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers: This is actually a devotional, but I had to add it. Oswald has a way of getting right to the heart of scripture. He takes Gods word at what it says and encourages the readers to leap out in faith daily.
4. Bridge to Haven by Francine Rivers: This was the second book I read by Rivers. It was so good that I was finished with it in a day. I couldn't put it down! It is such an amazing story about how God adopts us, and shows us grace and love even if we deliberately disobey and run from Him.
There were about four more books I was just dying to write about but I am going to save it for another day!
Are there any books that you have been reading lately that you can't seem to put down? Any suggestions for me to read?
I'd love to hear from you!
xoxo,
Lacey Beth
Verse of the day:
"Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."

I've only read Redeeming Love by Rivers, so I'll have to check out Bridge to Haven! If you haven't already, I'd suggest reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan. Along the same lines as Platt, Chan encourages Christians to be radically transformed by the love of Christ.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christle! I'll be sure to check that book out :)
DeleteWe have the same taste in books! I love Nicholas Sparks, Francine Rivers is on my must-read list and so is My Utmost for His Highest, and I'm reading Radical in Bible study!
ReplyDeleteIsn't Radical so great?! We do have the same taste in books! :) So excited for the retreat with you sweet friend!
DeleteI've had 'The Notebook' sitting on my bookshelf for a few years now, but after I saw the movie I kind of lost interest in reading it. Love that you said the book is better than the movie! Now I'm excited to start reading :)
