Old Fashioned Chess Pie

Hey y'all!
Today I wanted to share with you a little recipe that was a hit with my family and my fiance. It's easy and delicious so what more could a girl want??
This is also Matthews favorite dessert and we are considering having it as a dessert at our wedding as the "groom's favorite".

This recipe includes ingredients that you typically have on hand all the time. The only things that I had to buy were eggs, cornmeal, and a refrigerated pie crust.

Here are the yummy ingredients:
1 refrigerated pie
2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons cornmeal
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
 1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup melted butter or margarine
 1/4 cup milk
 1 tablespoon white vinegar
 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 lightly beaten large eggs

Directions:

1.Dust the refrigerated pie crust with flour on the top and bottom, then spread it in a 9 inch pie pan.

2. Bake the pie crust by itself according to that pie crusts instructions.
Mine went in the oven at 450 degrees for 5-10 minutes, or until the crust is a golden brown.

3. Once you pull out the pie crust, use a fork to poke it all over and create tiny holes in the bottom of the crust. (sorry I didn't get a picture of this! )

4. Combine the sugar, flour, cornstarch, butter, salt, milk, white vinegar, and vanilla extract. Stir thoroughly.

 5. Lightly whip the eggs.

6. Mix in with the other ingredients thoroughly.

7. Pour the mixture into the pie crust.

8. Bake the pie for 50-55 minutes with the oven set at 350 degrees.

9. Set the pie out to cool, then cut open and enjoy!

This recipe makes for one happy fiance! Hope you try it out and see if it's a hit with your family as well!
Have a great weekend!!
xoxo,
Lacey Beth
